Northern Lights Group Tour

Come and join us to see one of nature’s most beautiful visual phenomena. A one in a lifetime opportunity! This is a private tour.

Overview

The Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis are a mesmerizing natural light display that can be typically seen from the regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. Iceland is just below the Arctic Circle, so that allows us to see the lights dance in the Icelandic skies.

Their colours might differ, the most common one is the neon green, but if you are lucky you will see them in red, purple and even blue! Sometimes they are so big, that it looks like there is a dragon dancing in the sky.

Included in your tour

Need to know

The Northern Lights are only visible during night time when the sky is dark. The best season to observe them is between September and April around 9PM till 2AM.

Aurora shows can be unpredictable even with the best conditions. We want to encourage you to be mindful and patient. They are something totally worth waiting for!

Please have in mind that weather conditions can be very unpredictable in Iceland, therefore North Fantasy cannot guarantee that you will see the Northern Lights or how they will appear in the night sky.

At night the temperature drops quite a lot, we advise you to dress appropriately with several layers and thermals.

Our vehicles are accessible to persons with mobility challenges. However, we require you to contact us before booking as this tour takes place at night time and certain terrains may present possible challenges.

How to capture the Auroras?

Use a Tripod: Stabilizes your camera for long exposures.
Manual Settings: Adjust ISO, aperture, and shutter speed for optimal results.
Bring extra Batteries: Cold temperatures can drain battery life quickly.

FAQs

Most of our tours are fully guided by experienced local experts, who provide in-depth knowledge of Iceland’s history, culture, and landscapes. We also offer some self-guided options with pre-arranged itineraries and vehicle rentals.

We recommend dressing in layers, with waterproof and windproof outerwear. Sturdy hiking boots, a warm hat, gloves, and a scarf are essential, especially if you're visiting during colder months. Don’t forget your camera to capture Iceland’s stunning landscapes!

Head to the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, known for its dramatic basalt columns and sea stacks. Be cautious of the powerful waves here.

Stop for a glacier walk or simply admire the immense Sólheimajökull Glacier, a stunning site where you can experience Iceland's frozen landscapes.

End the day in the charming village of Vik, grab a meal, and enjoy views of the surrounding coast before heading back to Reykjavik.
